Detoxing The Mind



Hebrews 12:1(KJV)  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, ...........

I have been having lemon water in the mornings for quite a few years now, it has become part of my morning routine.  My friend Sandra from Georgetown, Ontario recently shared a new fusion combination that she has been doing and I thought I would try it.  She said it has helped her with with swelling of her feet and she is more alert.  I only started recently so I cant tell you anything yet, except it has encouraged me to drink more water.  I know all the ingredients are good for the body, especially fresh.

 I came downstairs this morning, made my pitcher of water (fresh mint, ginger, lemon slices and cucumber slices) and as I poured my first glass the thought that came to me was detoxing.  Then I thought, while it is good to detox the body, the place to really focus on is detoxing the mind.  In   2003 I was seeing a Chiropractor because I had gone for a massage and the massage therapist was so concerned about the stiffness at the base of my head she was afraid to work on that area. She suggested I see  an Occupational Therapist but through what I refers to Divine guidance I met a NUCCA Chiropractor.  I was so stressed that I could hardly turn my head to look behind me without excruciating pain.  After the initial consultation and agreeing to the recommended treatment I was invited to participate in a presentation on stress and spinal care.  It was an eye opener, listening to Dr. Vic Sondhi teach about the effects of stress on the body, and how to eliminate the toxic effects stress.

The effects of mental stress is just as harmful, if not more so, on the body as environmental or physical stress.  The thing with mental stress is that it wears you down and affect the body's ability to deal with environmental pollution and the every day physical stressors we may need to deal with.  Meeting Dr. Sundhi helped me correct an issue early enough to prevent me from going through a lifetime of pain, but it also opened the window to help me understand where science and my spiritual well being intersect.  I now know that to have a healthy body, I need a healthy mind, and know first hand the benefits of uncluttering the mind. Not easy of automatic but doable and requires consistent effort.

In Romans 12:2 were are instructed to be transformed by the daily renewing of our minds.  Make it a daily habit to work on "detoxing the mind" even while detoxing the body.  The results will be all that more powerful.
