Women's Rights Are Human Rights

I have been thinking about this for quite some time, even yesterday, then suddenly I had an epiphany this morning. Feminism is a misnomer and gives a negative connotation of what the women's movement is about, just like the current "defund the police". I don't know who came up with the term "defund the police" but it is awful because the meaning has to be explained, and even when explained people will naturally take it literally.

Unfortunately, the people who are vested in keeping the current societal power structures in place are quick to use the term feminism other than was intended, in a negative way. Over the years, it's been used to defend all sorts of unjust actions and bad takes to keep old stereotypes alive. Example - women want to emasculate men. Let us be clear of one thing, men are different, will always be different because that is our genetic makeup.

As a Teen I read this Chapter in the book of Proverbs and even at that young age I figured out that something was wrong with society and something went horribly wrong to throw the world into darkness. It's not possible to have a king, King Lemuel heaping this sort of praise on women back in the Old Testament, before Christ and women having to fight for rights not to be considered "chattels" of men in a modern world. Not possible without some deep regression into darkness. No doubt King Lemuel was a "woke" man, giving high praise and recognition to his mother and women in general and leaving the footprints for eternity.

Thank God, because if it were not for recorded history we would have thought that this is a new frontier but it's not. The fight of Feminism, in my mind, is not to gain new ground so much as to restore what was stolen from women.

Proverbs 31 - Sayings of King Lemuel (NIV)

8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

The Wife of Noble Character

10A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

It is pretty clear from reading the ancient text that women were highly active in all kinds of business endeavours and were highly regarded. I realized this reading the bible as a teenager so why is this still an issue with people, especially many Christians?

From today, I will no longer think of feminism within the context of women's issues and women's rights. Gone - banished. It's all about Women's Rights - clean, clear and to the point.

Happy Sunday to all,
